Brian and Joan Stewart also known as Greenthumbscapers on Instagram are a husband and wife team from California, USA. Brian has been an avid hobbyist for nearly 30 years keeping all varieties of freshwater and salt water systems, ranging from 3 gallons to over 30,000 gallons. Introduced to the hobby by his parents from the day he was born, he seemed destined to shine in this amazing hobby. Growing up in the Chaparral zone of the Sierra Nevada Mountains a very short distance from groves of giant trees and granite mountain peaks, Brian was surrounded by inspiration through out his youth. His use of manzanita, granite and river rocks reflect the beautiful landscapes he grew up in. Joan was born in Manila, Philippines and grew up a short drive from the tall coastal redwoods of Northern California's coast. Joan also spent time studying abroad in Christchurch, New Zealand and has had the opportunity to view and appreciate many natural wonders around the world. She was introduced to the hobby by her husband Brian 2 years ago and fell in love with the world of aquascaping. In their spare time they enjoy travel, gardening, food, music, art, nature and sharing everything with their 5 year old son Aden who already has a strong fascination with Loricariidae and collecting them.
